In the previous years there was an increase of tourists coming to Croatia with their pets, mainly dogs.

In the previous years there was an increase of tourists coming to Croatia with their pets, mainly dogs. The things they care about the most during the vacation are accommodation for their pets and a dog friendly beach near the city they are staying at. Regarding dog friendly beaches, a situation is not so good in Croatia.

All the most attractive and the most visited beaches have prominent “No dogs allowed” signs, as the people usually don’t want their children swimming in the same water the pets swim in. Plus the fines are rigorous for those that are reported to the police. On a bright side, there are some beaches that are pet friendly, because, the pets get hot as well and could use a swim to cool themselves during the summer days.Here is the list of official dog friendly beaches:  the beach on the island of Cres, near the Kovačina park, beach Podvarska in Crikvenica, beach Podvrške on the island of Murter, Istrea beaches in Poreč, Lone and Cuvi bays near Rovinj, beach on Punta kolova near Opatija, few beaches in Rijeka, Dražice and Koralj on the island of Krk, Veli Žal on the island of Lošinj, Kijac in Njivice, beach Vartlac on the island of Vis, 4 beaches in Split, and numerous bays on the island of Mljet.

Each year the number of dog friendly beaches increases,  showing that the local hosts have recognized the importance of them, and that makes us happy. We hope that, in near future, every island and a bigger city will have at least one dog friendly beach. The above presented list is constantly increasing, and we will try to constantly update it with the new information.
